PLATELET-RICH FIBRIN (PRF)

What is PRF?

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) injections are a type of therapy that is used by many athletes across the world to help alleviate pain. PRF is made from sampling the patient’s own blood, which is then spun in a sterilized centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors.

This concentrated solution is then injected into the site of pain or injury.

PRF injections are used to promote tissue regeneration and reduce inflammation, which can help improve healing and reduce pain in various conditions. PRF is commonly used to treat musculoskeletal injuries, such as tendonitis, ligament sprains, osteoarthritis, and joint pain.

Is the procedure dangerous?

PRF injections are a minimally invasive procedure and generally safe, as only the patient’s own blood is used, reducing the risk of complications or adverse reactions.

How do we work?

It is important to note that, as with any medical treatment, PRF injections may not be suitable for everyone. We ask that you consult your physician to determine if this pain management therapy is appropriate for your specific condition and provide you with a consultation request, or referral.

Afterwards, our specialized radiologist will take a look at the request and determine if you are an appropriate candidate before booking the appointment.

What is the cost?

The cost per injection is of $600.00 (there are no taxes on medical procedures) and $300.00 per additional site during the same session.*

*Please note that this treatment typically needs to be repeated a few times to be more effective. All subsequent sessions will be discounted at $500.00 if you are an existing patient.

How often can I get this procedure?

PRF injections can be completed as early as every 2 weeks if deemed necessary. Our specialized radiologist will provide a written report with a recommendation that will be faxed to your referring physician 24 to 48 business hours after your procedure.
